Youth Religious Education Statement of Purpose

The Youth Religious Education Program embodies the Mission Covenant of Jefferson Unitarian Church by:

  • inspiring hope, love, self-expression and positive values;
  • encouraging the on-going search for truth; and
  • promoting personal, community and global actions to support these values.

Meetings with the Ministers and Other Opportunities

Parents are welcome to schedule meetings with the Religious Educator to talk about parenting questions, theological and religious issues for young people, or other concerns they may wish to discuss. Also, keep an eye open for parenting classes offered through the Continuing Religious Education (CRE) program including a special class for parents of OWL students.

Love and Help / Religion in Life

Open to all youth ages 6-18

The UUA offers a special religious emblem for Boy and Girl Scouts (ages 6-11). Older scouts may participate in the Religion in Life program. The programs explore a young person’s relationship to the Divine, their family and their world. Our Religious Educator is happy to work with any of our Boy or Girl Scouts for further recognition and accomplishment of their goals including Eagle Scout.

Children's Choir - Ages 3 through 14

The Children's Choir for 4 year olds-1st Graders meets Tuesdays from 4:30-5 p.m. The Radiance Choir for 2nd-5th Graders meets Tuesdays 5:15-6 p.m. The Code Rock choir for boys 3rd grade on up meets Wednesdays 5:30-6:15 p.m. There are also opportunities for Junior High youth and an Intergenerational Holiday Choir. Older youth are encouraged to join the Adult Choir.

Grade 9 - Ninth Grade Trip

For years, Front Range ninth graders have come together for a ten day exploration of Navajo and Hopi cultures preceded by monthly classes in preparation for the trip. Visit: www.uu9gt.org
