A Special Plate Collection will be taken to support relief efforts in Myanmar (Burma) in the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis. The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) and the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) have set up a special relief fund. Monies raised will provide humanitarian relief through groups in the affected region in an effort to help survivors, particularly those at risk of being overlooked by mainstream relief. Our contributions to the UUSC/UUA relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina and the tsunami in southeast Asia have made a tremendous difference. This is a fund to which we can give with great confidence that the money will be well used. Make checks payable to JUC with "Myanmar" in the memo. |
